Sculpture
"The question of identity has become central to much postmodern art and the contemporary dilemmas of artists, who work across cultures is especially poignant, revealing and enriching.
The clash of cultures known only to the sensitive immigrant, nomad or exile often provokes an appreciation of differences, of asymmetry and of an evaluation of roots which for the imaginative artist may produce remarkable epiphanies of art. Johnson thus transmits the values of her original culture, loaded as it is with metaphoric images, in an engaging way, defining herself rather exquisitely against her majority milieu, suggesting alternative solutions in a variety of sur-realistic forms."
