Double Vision
Double Vision: Collaborative project with SHARE (Support the Handicapped's Rehabilitation Effort), Bombay, India. Johnson sent the women from SHARE full-scale pencil drawings dealings with issues that were established through previous discussions: dowry system, female infanticide, woman's worth, religious divisions, etc. The SHARE women translated these drawings into picture quilts, making their own choices regarding color and pattern. We see here a unique blend of the trained and untrained eye.
