Public Mural Organized by Mandala Arts on Devon Avenue

Residents living around the Devon Avenue in Rogers Park gathered from May-June 2024 to explore the meaning of community in a highly diverse and divided neighborhood. Over the course of three workshops, they identified words, symbols, and colors to visually represent their aspirations and insights, culminating into a mural painted on the wall of the Republic Bank of Chicago.
Organized by Mandala Arts as part of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs Together We Heal Initiative, the Community Is… mural creates a sense of place and identity and reinforces the idea of the connections that exist between each of us and all of nature.
